I WANT YOUR HEART TO BE HAPPY WHEN YOU SEE YOUR NEWBORN PHOTOS
As a sought after newborn photographer in the twin cities I do my best to create images that will continue to bring you joy. I want you to look at the images of your newborn and remember the immense and overwhelming love that is shared between you, your family and your new baby. I will capture the details; the soft skin, the baby smell, little toes, and tiny fingers. The details that change so fast. I hope to capture the fleeting moments so that the memories will last for a lifetime. I want your heart to be happy when you see your photos.
NEWBORN PHOTOGRAPHY IS AN ART
Just like birth photography, newborn photography is an art and since you only have the first few weeks of life with your newborn as a newborn, you’ll really want to consider capturing those images at the right time. With all newborn sessions, I recommend that sessions are scheduled within the first 6-10 days but I completely understand that for a variety of reasons this might not always be possible and that’s okay. Because of my natural approach to photography and my magical baby whispering ninja skills, it’s just fine if your baby is older than two weeks old.
WHEN SHOULD I SCHEDULE?
I only take on a few newborn clients per month so I suggest booking your newborn session far in advance. With that being said- I always try my best to work some magic if you are late to the party and need to book a session last minute.
WHERE DO STUDIO SESSION TAKE PLACE?
Newborn sessions are typically photographed at my twin cities in-home studio located in South Minneapolis neighborhood of Kingfield. I’m laid back and so are my sessions. I try my best to make you feel at home in my home 🙂 I’ve been a first time and second-time parent- so I understand how hard it is- I want to be here to make this part of the process and simple and un-stressful as possible. During the session, I encourage you to relax as I capture the magic that is your new baby. So if you are ready to get out of the house and want to venture to Minneapolis for newborn photography I offer in studio newborn sessions. If you don’t want to leave the house- DON’T worry I can come to you!
Newborn photography doesn’t have to be stressful! I really believe that bringing your newborn to the studio for a session should be an enjoyable, memorable experience in addition to being an opportunity to capture images. So start thinking about your newborn session as not just another item on your “to do” list, but rather as an enjoyable experience where you get the opportunity to see your newborn in a new light and watch them grow right before your eyes!
Newborn photography is really just the beginning of the story of your growing family. I believe that capturing family portraits from as early as the first week of life is so important! Babies change so much in the first 6 weeks and many of my families say that they loved having a record of their first hours and days together as a new family (FRESH 48).
When you make capturing your family portraits a priority from the very beginning, you’ll find it easier to cherish those first days of life with your newborn! I also find that as your babies grow, they love to see pictures of themselves when they were “little”.
MY SIMPLE TIPS TO GET GREAT
So what are simple tips I can offer that will help you get great photos at your newborn session?
My first tip: Make sure everyone and especially baby is well fed! I recommend feeding you sweet babe right before your session. You are welcome to come early and feed if you have a long drive. Secondly- keep that baby awake before the session- we want them to be nice and sleepy! My third tip: Don’t stress! You don’t need to worry about bringing any special outfits for your baby. I have everything you need from wraps, outfits, blankets and buckets! As a baby photographer, I have lots of experience guiding families through the process of taking the photos of their bundle of love and helping them enjoy themselves at the same time, without the stress! With my sense of humor and my relaxed attitude, I can help almost any couple ease into the session and turn their worries off. My sessions have a relaxed, no pressure feel to help you feel less anxious and more at ease.
HOW TO I SELECT THE PHOTOS I WANT?
My goal is to capture gorgeous pictures from our session that you love. If you’re finding it hard to choose which photos you want to print or turn into wall art, then I’ve done my job! When you review your professional baby photographs you should feel like you’re still in the moment. You should feel yourself holding your newborn in your lap and touching the soft newborn skin.
One of the things that makes me unique is that I offer SAME DAY GALLERY VIEWINGS ONLINE OR IN PERSON. What’s a viewing session? A viewing session is simply an opportunity for us to sit down together, approximately one hour after your session, to view your portraits and select the great photos that you want to display as art in your home. If you are unable to do same day viewing- your gallery will be available online the same day- and you can choose your pictures there.
