Do You Hire Photographers for your Parties??

It’s pretty standard to hire a photographer for your wedding, right? Because it’s one of the biggest days of your life, and all that. Lots of emotions, you need to be able to remember it even though it goes by SUPER quickly.

And I’m not going to argue that there are many days in your life bigger than your wedding. But there ARE lots of days you deserve to be able to remember the way they happened! And more than that, you deserve to remember them without having to document them yourself. So… Why should you book a photographer for your anniversary party? There are TONS of reasons!

1. The Best Anniversary Gift To Yourself

The first reason you definitely need a photographer at your Anniversary party, is the images make an amazing gift to yourselves! What’s cooler than being able to look back at the day you celebrated the longevity of your love?

When you’ve hired a photographer to document the day for you, you even get to look back at all of your favorite people celebrating with you, too. It’s not JUST you and your partner! So it’s an even bigger win! Giving yourself the gift of images is like giving yourself the gift of happy memories – they’re nicer than any sparkly ring (though don’t get me wrong, rings are a GREAT anniversary gift choice…).

2. How Often Are Your Family REALLY All Together?

One of the reasons I think having a professional photographer attend family events and parties is such a great idea, is when you think about it… how often are you and the family REALLY together? Weddings? Funerals? The occasional birthday? Well, weddings are usually photographed, but the photographer isn’t focusing on all of the guests. I mean we are, we document them all enjoying themselves too – but at a party, we take an even more “candid” approach to documenting everyone having a great time! And we’re a little less worried about documenting every single moment for the happy couple.

You know what I mean – we can spend more time documenting everyone instead of laser focusing in on the couple getting married. But anyway, the overarching point is these days most families don’t get together super often, and even LESS often in a context where you could hire someone to document it for you!

So you really might as well take advantage of that opportunity!

3. As Always, Prints Become Family Heirlooms!

As with any session that you book with a professional photographer, after your Anniversary party when you’ve gotten your images, you can have them printed! You can pull together an album full of love, and enjoyment, and happiness. You can print a few favorites, and hang them on the wall!

Printing photos to get the visual prompt to remember a happy, magical time, is a dying habit, and I truly think we should bring it back. Albums of your photos belong on your shelves, and images from our favorite moments belong on your walls! And once images are printed, don’t forget, they can be passed down in your family as art that hearkens back to another time. (Which I realize sounds really dramatic, but that’s what they do! They call back to a bygone age – in 2200, people will look back at OUR photos! I don’t make the rules, I just follow them.)

4. You can Share the Celebration, AND Be a Part of It!

I’ve saved the best for last with this list, because there’s one other reason that hiring a Minneapolis event photographer for your Anniversary party is a brilliant idea, and it’s my favorite reason.

You know that feeling you get when you’re somewhere, but really you’re observing the whole thing through your camera screen? Or your phone screen, to make things even slightly worse? Yeah. That’s the feeling that you’re PREVENTING by hiring a professional event photographer for your party! You get to BE there.

You get to EXPERIENCE the party, be a part of the vibes, enjoy the food and the conversation – without worrying about making sure you’re documenting the big moments. Those moments will happen TO you, and you’ll get to truly participate, instead of pointing your phone at it. And honestly, this is a reason I come back to for hiring photographers for a LOT of things – even family photo sessions help to make sure that you feel you’re really PRESENT during your everyday life. You already have photos of your favorite people, so it frees up your brain to participate in the things around you instead of obsessively documenting them. Especially now that we have phones in our pockets that CAN document everything at a moments notice… But that doesn’t mean we should.

When you hire a professional photographer for your Anniversary party, you get to enjoy celebrating with your family, and I make sure you can remember all the important moments – and they can too. And I don’t really think there’s anything cooler than that!
