Why You Need a Photographer at Your Minneapolis Business Event

It’s easy to think you don’t need a photographer at your upcoming business event…

Could you tell from reading that header that there was a “but” coming? Because there’s a “but” coming. It’s easy to think you don’t need a photographer at your upcoming business event, BUT you would be missing out on amazing promotion opportunities if you skip hiring one, and we’re going to talk a little bit about why.

We can capture CONNECTION at your event

I say it all the time, but business is about connection. It’s about people. It’s about making magic happen – all kinds of different magic! My business magic is images, but yours might be home insurance. It sounds super cliché, but there’s magic in there too. And there’s definitely connection, right? Connection between your employees, and connection between them and your clients. Or customers, depending on the type of business you own/direct/work with. (Can’t leave anyone out, right?)

Your people MATTER

At its core, that connection is why you need a photographer at your event. Those moments of connection are what it’s all about. Your employees having a great time together – the look on Jason’s face when he gets that award for volunteering with your community service program.

Hiring a photographer for your next business event helps to show your employees that you care that their happiness is documented. I know that sounds subtle, but it truly does make a difference. They’ll be able to look back on those moments they shared with their colleagues, and remember how valued they felt. How cared for. How CONNECTED.

I started off with this one, because it’s the mushy one on the list. Connection is emotional – but the bottom line? It’s nice and solid, right? And there are definitely reasons that sit right there on the bottom line.

Event photography can be USED

When I say event photography can be used, I mean it has a TON of uses. I don’t just mean “you can put some of them on social media”. You can, but that’s not all you can do with it. Event photography can go on your website, it can inspire blog posts for your content managers, it can go on social media, you can use it to attract attention to other events, if they’re public facing. They can be shared with people within your organization that couldn’t attend, too! HR can use those images in their materials about your workplace, and more. There are SO many uses that event photography has, and it’s the gift that keeps on giving, because its utility never runs out. It’s not tied to a specific product, or a sale you’re holding. It’s tied to your business, and the people involved in it. Which means you can throw back to those images for years to come, whether you’re promoting another event (again, for those events that are public facing) or inviting your employees internally to next year’s event. They even make a great slide show (if the event is annual in nature) at NEXT year’s installment!

How does that impact the bottom line, exactly?

In case it’s not clear how using your images in those kinds of ways contributes to the bottom line… including the kind of connection we can capture at your event in your recruitment materials will make your business more appealing to future employees.

It makes promoting public facing events easier

For public-facing (and publicly attended) events, it can of course be used in promotion, so that you have images of what they’ll actually experience at the event itself. And we all know that an invitation or advertizement for an event is more appealing if it’s got images of what’s actually going to happen there.

Event photography can speed up your design and marketing teams

And using your event photography on your front-facing digital (and physical!) presence not only gives you content that means your content team doesn’t have to spend as much time pulling materials together, it also helps to show your values to future customers/clients. It ties back into the overarching point about connection, but in a really nuanced way. Your customers/clients want to know that you care about the people they’re working with on the ground. They want to know that you value Jamie in accounting who handled their billing setup.

Communicating your corporate values is easier with event photography

Even moreso if the event in question benefited a charity. Obviously we give to causes because we care about them, and we want them to have the resources they need. And that kind of charitable giving should come from a place that doesn’t need to be thanked. But when those events are a part of your corporate culture, and they’re a part of what you value at large, it’s important to make that value clear to your customers! Sharing images from charitable events your business hosts is a powerful touchpoint for corporate responsibility – which is the most powerful way to say: business is about people. Having a professional event photographer at your event is a great way to show YOUR people that you care about… people. People like them.

If you’re not convinced…

We should talk about your upcoming business event! Whether it’s a networking evening in a group you’re hosting for other small business owners, or a gala for your employees, there are tons of ways professional event photography can not only benefit your business… but your bottom line. And I’d be thrilled to document your event to that end! So reach out, and let’s chat. Then, let’s capture some connection together! Because like I said: business is all about connection.
