Celebrate YOURSELF This Mothers Day: Five Reasons to have a Motherhood Session

by | Jan 21, 2024 | Family Photography, Kiddos, Mini Sessions, Motherhood, Sessions

I’m a mom to two boys, who make life WILD, and I totally get how difficult it can be to set time aside for YOU. And I also understand how easy it is to be the family documentarian. Always the one TAKING the pictures, never the one IN them. And that’s why every spring, I offer Motherhood Sessions!

I want you to have an opportunity to capture some magic with your kiddos! And not the kind where you’re juggling your iphone the whole time, trying not to miss “the moment”. In these sessions… that’s MY job. To be fair that’s my job all the time, but you know what I mean, right? I’ll be there snapping the perfect shot, at the perfect moment. The one where your son is laughing chaotically because you’re tickling his sides, or your daughter is beaming held to your hip.

But if that kind of magic isn’t enough to convince you – I’ve got at LEAST five more reasons that you NEED to book a Motherhood Session this year!!

1. You’re Usually the One BEHIND The Camera, Mama

I did kind of already cover this, but let’s face it. You’re the family documentarian. You’re the one who gets their phone out, to make sure you have a video of them blowing out the candles. You capture the smiles. The laughs.

But what that means, is you get to live those moments through your phone screen, instead of being present in the moment. And there’s definitely a place for that kind of documentation, I get it! The FOMO feeling of missing their smile is NOT a good feeling. But there should also be some pictures of YOU!

Especially you with your kiddos. You made them, after all!! And when I’m talking about photos of you with your kids, I also don’t mean the kind that your partner snaps super quickly on their phone, because let’s all say it together: that’s not enough. It’s great to have those photos, don’t get me wrong! But you deserve more. You really, truly do.

2. If You Want To, You Can Invite Dad! (Or Your Partner!!)

They’re called “Motherhood Sessions” – but that doesn’t mean they can’t involve your partner! These sessions are designed to capture you being a Mom, but Dads (or partners!) regularly attend these sessions. We’ll make sure to focus on YOU still, but it’s totally fair to want a couple snapshots that include the whole family. It’s YOUR session, and whoever YOU want to be there should be included!

3. Professional Photos Can Be PRINTED

The elephant in the room when it comes to images taken on your phone, is actually the walls in your home. It sounds weird when I say it that way, but it’s true!! All of those pics you’ve taken on your phone just aren’t designed to be printed. They’re great for memories, and for scrolling through your phone nostalgically – even a wallpaper here and there. But they’re just not formatted to print well professionally speaking.

And they’re not going to be color graded for printing either. What does that mean? Even if you DO print them, then you’re probably going to have trouble putting together something like a lovely gallery wall in your home that matches and feels cohesive. When you have a professional session, you don’t have to worry about that problem!

Following your Motherhood Session, you’ll be able to print your images, hang them on your walls, and look back at those magical moments forever. Literally forever, because prints are a lifetime investment. Who knows, maybe your grandchildren will have them hung in THEIR home years down the line!

4. It’s Super Quick, and Super Easy!

One of my favorite things about the Motherhood Sessions is actually their format. Obviously you can schedule a full family photo session with Jessica Strobel Photography anytime you like, but the Motherhood Sessions are designed to be EXTRA quick, and EXTRA simple. They’re not full session, they’re a focused one!

Whether you schedule for Arneston Acres Park, or the Lyndale Rose Garden, you’ll only have to spend about 15 minutes in front of the camera. And what does that mean? You get ALL the perks of a professional photo session, with none of the grumpy kids who’ve gotten impatient. It’s SUPER easy to keep their attention for that amount of time, which means we capture all the smiles in the WORLD. And of course, all the laughter to match.

I even provide a convenient guide for wardrobe options ahead of time, to help you figure out what you’re going to wear, if you need help. And when it comes to scheduling, you can select a time yourself. So not only is the session quick, but you don’t have to deal with a ton of communication ahead of time, which we ALL know adds emotional labor to your already tough days being a Mom.

What I’m saying, is it’s a win on ALL possible fronts!

5. You DESERVE it!

Finally… let’s face it. You spend all day caring for your clan. You do all the things, all the time. And even if you DO have a super supportive partner who shares in those tasks, you ARE worth celebrating.

Even when you don’t feel like it. Even when you feel like you’re behind. You. Deserve. Memories. You deserve to look around your house and remember all of the magical moments you’ve shared with your kiddos.

Motherhood Sessions help to make that happen!
