Stop Motion makes an AMAZING ad creative
It’s 2025, and if you’re running a small to medium business, and you’re NOT putting advertizing dollars toward social media campaigns, you’re missing out on a huge audience. I mean, if you’re not using social media in GENERAL you’re missing out on a huge audience. But in the social space, everyone and their brother is bombarded with ads for literally everything under the sun, ALL the time. You’ve seen it yourself – scrolling on Facebook, and it feels like every other post is an ad.
In a space like that, you have to make an impression. And one of the ways I recommend doing that, is keeping your ad creatives fresh, and unique. Which brings us to: stop motion! It’s nostalgic in all the right ways, and it would be a GREAT addition to your social advertizing suite. Today, we’re going to talk about WHY.
Your products deserve to be highlighted
As a baseline here, you and your business deserve to be highlighted. You deserve eyeballs on your content. I mean, otherwise, you’re not going to grow an audience that’s 2025-proof, right? And Stop-Motion is a great way to highlight the features of your product suite that you want your audience to notice. Have the SPARKLIEST lip gloss on the market? Highlight that feature. Super proud of the flavor you’ve packed into your latest release of sparkling water? Make sure it shows in your content.
Too often, ad creatives try to focus on too many things at once, instead of featuring one stand out, memorable, feature that your audience will recall the next time they need to solve the problem that your cool stuff solves. Whether that problem is un-sparkly lipgloss, or a flavorless drink after work. Targeting your content to one memorable feature at a time is a stronger approach, because it’s more line line-fishing than net-fishing. It’ll get through to the people who are ready-to-buy, instead of trying to appeal to everyone and… well, coming off bland.
Stop-Motion as a format lends itself really well to targeted, specific feature highlights, because it’s in the sweet spot between photography and video! It’ll catch eyes, and turn heads, and that’s exactly what your marketing strategy needs. Scroll stopping content, for all the platforms you post on.
It doesn’t matter where you are in the world!
When you’re working with a photography studio like Jessica Strobel Studios for your stop-motion ad creatives (or stop-motion social content in general) it doesn’t matter where you are in the world, either! Unlike working with a branding photographer for a service based business where it’s far more likely you’re going to need to personally be in their studio for your session… product stop-motion video creation doesn’t require travel.
You can just box up your product and ship it! And then my team (or whatever team you’re working with!) will make the magic happen, and send it back your way. While I love serving the greater Minneapolis area, you could send me products you create and sell in Portland, Oregon, and I can still make you magical conversion-ready ad imagery! And that makes it a pretty cool format, if you ask me. It opens up the options for who you can work with massively, which means you can get the BEST, not just what’s local to you. (Not that your local options aren’t amazing, and I do absolutely recommend working with someone local! I’d love your business, don’t get me wrong, but community over competition is my motto!)
Converting cold ad space means turning heads
Obviously in 2025 there are about a million different ways you can target ads, let’s not pretend that Google and friends don’t know more about everyone with a phone than we know about ourselves. They do, it’s just reality. And that means ad targeting is super effective in some places. But that doesn’t mean you can slack when it comes to the “turning heads” side of your ad campaigns! You’ve still got a TON of other online noise to compete with no matter what industry you’re in.
Stop motion takes a really cool approach to turning heads, because it’s unexpected. When your potential customers scroll to it, at first glance, it looks like it’s just an image, and they might continue scrolling – but surprise! The image changes before they can get past it on the page! Honestly you’ve probably caught yourself pausing your scroll on a stop-motion ad or post, because after that first image change? Your brain wants to know what comes next! And that’s what’s going to happen in viewers’ heads when they hit your ad on their scroll, too.
Stop Motion can go ANYWHERE
Why else is Stop-Motion video fabulous as a promo tool for your products? It can go ANYWHERE you can post video. Facebook? Yes. Pinterest? Yes. TikTok & Instagram? Yes and YES. Obviously you can use them as ad creatives or posts on your own accounts – but you can also use them anywhere you’d use an image. Your website, your email campaigns – if it’s a digital format, stop motion can be the play.
That even counts for some physical ad campaigns, if you’re planning on securing digital screen based ads in your local city – or for larger firms… nationwide. If you’re a food brand, you can even integrate them into some digital ordering systems! The options are truly limitless, it’s not just something I’m saying.
