Video is 2025’s Conversion Powerhouse

If you know anything about social media in 2025, you know video is where it’s at right now. It’s been that way for a while, let’s be honest – but this year, the game has continued to change. And that change? It’s all video. Instagram wants you posting reels, TikTok is continuing to grow as a conversion source for small businesses – especially if you have your products on TikTok shop. Even Instagram is getting increasingly “shoppable” and Pinterest? Video pins and video pins as ads are converting at totally bonkers rates.

So if video is all over the internet, and it’s so powerful… you need to be using it, right? That was mostly rhetorical, of COURSE you need to be using it!! But as a business owner who wears all the hats too, I can completely understand why capturing video for your brand might not be at the top of your list, even though it should definitely be up there.

It’s time consuming. Not just capturing the video itself, but setting up, getting yourself ready, collecting your products if there will be products involved… it’s a lot.

Why should YOU add Video to your Branding Session?

But there is a solution to this problem, and that solution is adding video to your branding session with Jessica Strobel Photography! Or, whoever you work with for your branding imagery. So today – we’re going to walk through why you should definitely add video to your next branding session, because it goes further than just “social media wants you to”.

1 – Those Social Media Things I Mentioned

Of course… we ARE going to start off with the cop-out, because the whole “video for socials” thing is kinda a big one. In the new world of social media where video is king, adding video to your Minneapolis branding photo session means you’ll have the resources you need to create that content. Whether it’s b-roll you need (quick video clips of you doing “behind the scenes” things, or of your products) or actual scripted videos where you’re speaking, bringing in a professional team who can make your life easier takes out the guesswork. And if you want even less involvement than just receiving a package of video you can do cool things with, then working with my team to create the finished content itself is also an option. You don’t have to wear all the hats.

2 – Video SHOWS Your Audience Who You Are

It’s not just social media where video can help you convert, and help show your audience why they need to work with you. Video does a LOT of work to highlight to your audience why you’re the best option for them – whether it’s for products, or services. It grabs their attention way more effectively than static ad content, and you have control over even more details, because you’ve got a whole new dimension to work with and communicate through – time.

That might sound weird, but if you break it down, it actually has a huge impact. You can communicate pace through imagery, sure. You can use colors that feel calm, you can root through your brand. But you get a whole NEW approach to tone and communication when you’re using a video format. Think about the tone of a yoga teacher, versus the tone of a spin instructor. They’re different, right? One is probably fairly chill. The other… probably a bit more energetic, right? That’s the kind of tonal difference you can use in a ton of ways to communicate tone to your audience through video content, that doesn’t quite show up when you’re making static posts on Instagram and elsewhere.

3 – Highlighting Your Humanity is Easier Through Video

This wouldn’t be a proper list for 2025 if we didn’t talk about humanity for a minute, so… we’re gonna. We’re in the age of AI. And when I say that, I don’t just mean like, the way we search for things online. I mean everything up to and including people not even knowing whether the products they’re ordering online are real, or just really well done AI catfishes. There are whole social accounts (some that are social experiments, which is another whole thing) that are entirely made up of AI generated images, some that include people. Some of those are made to LOOK like they’re a person.

But because of all this, everyone is craving authenticity. And I know that’s an overused word, but it’s the best one to capture what I’m talking about. People want real things, from real humans. And while video can totally be generated by AI already, and that’s only going to get better and better over time, right now, it’s still really easy to tell the difference between most AI generated video, and authentic video that was taken OF real people, BY real people. So why add video to your branding package? It’s an easy way to highlight your humanity. And the people you want to buy from you… they want humanity.

4 – Video Converts Like CRAZY

Video increases your conversion rates, no matter where you put it. Want to put video on a landing page on your website? It can increase your conversions by up to 86%. Putting it on your website in general? Those conversion rate increases are still in the 35% range. But what about social media? Well, you can expect an average rate of around 2% conversion from static ads on Instagram, while video ads convert at a rate closer to 4.5-5%.

And if you’re a product provider and you’re looking for content for your Etsy shop or e-commerce store, listings that feature video there convert at higher rates too. And on top of that, it’s romoured (though not 100% confirmed) that the algorithm on Etsy favors listings that include video, too. I mean, think about your own buying habits. Aren’t you more likely to buy something from a listing that includes a video? Doesn’t it feel more real, and give you more details? Of course it does, that was me being rhetorical again (sorry, I can’t help it!)

But the moral of the story here, is adding video to your content strategy, no matter where you plan on putting it, it’s going to convert more highly for you.
