Event Photos are a Documentation MUST
Look, I’m just going to say it like it is. Event photography moves the needle, and you NEED it for your business events. In fact, I’d go so far as to say that if you have a business event, and you DON’T hire a photographer, you’re missing out on vital promotional material and doing yourself (and your business!) a disservice. Maybe that sounds drastic, or like I’m tooting my own horn here – but honestly, event photography can be used for SO many powerful promotional tasks after the fact! Like… why would you want to miss out on that opportunity?!?
But today, we’re not talking about event photos at large, because if you’re here, you already know how important they are! We’re talking about how to leverage your event EVEN MORE. Because when you have event photography with Jessica Strobel Photography, you can add headshots onto the images included from your event. And today, we’re going to help you determine whether that’s a good plan for your business, or whether you need a separate headshot session booked for your employees!
Headshots Help Humanize Your Business
You already know how important event images are, but have you thought about the impact of headshot sessions for your business? Including headshots of your employees on your website humanizes your business – and as you know, people buy from people. We’re in the age of authenticity, now that we’re out of the chaos of the last few years where everything was increasingly online. We’re back in the world now, and people want to CONNECT. Headshots help with that connection!
Whether your business is small, or has 100 employees, creating a space on your website where your staff can be highlighted is key to creating that connection we’re all craving.
Your Brand will Benefit From Sharing Humanity
It’s 2024, and we’re barreling into 2025 – and let’s face it: people are tired. They’re tired of mysterious corporate groups, and tired of faceless organizations. Your business, big or small, can leverage headshots to stand out in a sea of… well… anonymity. And I know that sounds like making mountains out of molehills, because they’re just some pictures, right?
But they’re not just some pictures. They’re stories – every headshot is a story, every image is a story. And when you have those images, you can use them SO many ways! To honor specific employees in your corporate newsletter – or if you guys aren’t the newsletter type, to hang in the office when someone achieves employee of the month (or whatever cool label you give that honor, because “employee of the month” is a little tired now, right?)
But it isn’t just about internal values and culture, either! It’s also about showing your customers that you care about the people they’re interfacing with every day. It’s about giving them the opportunity to learn more about the people they’ll be working with – whether it’s just knowing the face that goes with a name, or pre-qualifying themselves to work with a specific professional before they reach out to your company.
When Are Your Employees All Together?
On the practical side of things, when it comes to deciding whether to add headshots to your event photography booking, you’ve got a few things to think about! First of all, you should think about how many employees you actually have, and how often they’re all together. Do you have remote staff who are really only physically around the office/a venue for events? Or does everyone work in the office so really you could book headshots for any day of the year?
If you have a really tight group who all come into the office regularly, maybe an event isn’t necessary to get your headshots done. Or if you have a lengthy staff list, it might not be possible to add headshots onto your event without missing some people out while they’re there. But if you’re in the sweet spot (which we can talk about when you book, since it’ll be based on a ton of factors!) then adding headshots onto your event photos can make things simpler for everyone.
Adding Headshots To Your Event Does Two Bird One Stone Things!
Most likely, when you have business events, everyone is going to look their best. Now, this might not actually suit your corporate/business branding, if you’re having a more formal event to cap off the year or the quarter, but your business’ means identity is fun and casual. But realistically… normally we see those events matching the tone of the business branding overall. So events can be a great opportunity to really “two birds one stone” your imagery, since everyone only has to be ready for images once! If you’re having a photographer at your event anyway, then they’re going to need to be ready to be photographed.
So having your headshots done on a separate day… just adds another time everything needs to be prepped and ready. Plus, another bonus, is at casual get togethers? Everyone is having a great time! So instead of Susan from accounting getting interrupted in the middle of a stressful workday to have her new headshot taken, she gets to have one taken when she’s unwinding, and having fun with colleagues. It’ll lead to your staff feeling happier with their headshots overall, and when they look at them, just like when you look at images taken of your family at a family photo session, she’ll remember how much fun she had that evening. It’s really a win-win-win!

So if you have an event coming up for your business and you’ve been thinking about hiring a photographer to document your day, let me know. I’d love to chat about your needs, the number of staff who will be in attendance, how we can REALLY leverage your location for gorgeous imagery that can be used for future promotion, and whether headshots being added on is a good fit for your business! Making the most of time in a way that moves the needle for your business is my favorite thing to do, so… let’s make it happen!
