The Gifting Season Never Ends!

I don’t know about you, but I feel like Christmas was just a few days ago. This year has been going so fast – and so it does feel a little weird to be talking about gifting again, because… well, we just got DONE with gifting season? Right?

WRONG. But I mean, you already know that. Gifting season doesn’t end – there are just as many reasons at the BEGINNING of the year to give gifts to your friends and loved ones as there are in the mid-winter season! Obviously there are birthdays all throughout the year, but we’re barreling super quickly to holidays like Valentines day, and Mothers’ Day! And those are great gifting opportunities for both family AND friends. (Galentines party, anyone??)

What do you buy for the woman (or man!) who has everything??

If you’re anything like me, the people in your world kind of have the things they want. Like in a, “I can’t get them another book about crochet” kind of way. Or the “there’s not a single kitchen appliance they don’t have” way.

And you already know that I’m super into the idea of gifting photo sessions in these kinds of situations, because you can never have too many photos of the people you love. But sometimes a photo session doesn’t fit the bill, especially if you’re low on time, or want to have something to physically hand to them on the day you’re celebrating! Giving a voucher for a family photo session, for example, doesn’t have the same “ripping open a gift” vibe that it could.

Experiences vs Material Things

When I talk about gifting experiences, normally what I’m talking about is gifting things like tickets to a concert, or a voucher for a photo session, or scheduling a massage. Ya know, things that you truly experience, and that don’t have physical “things” associated with them. We know that people are leaning (especially younger generations!) gifting experiences, and spending on experiences, but… if I’m not talking about that, what AM I talking about?

If you read the title of this post, you know I’m talking about fine art prints. But how, in the WORLD, can an art print be an experience? That’s the thing – it’s in the name. They’re ART prints. And all art? All art is about experience.

Art Makes Our Hearts Sing

It sounds cliche, but art makes our heart sing. It’s all about feelings – and there’s nothing material about feelings. Feelings aren’t a “thing” – they’re an experience. And when you gift someone a fine art print you’ve specifically chosen for them, you’re giving them the gift of seeing that print every time they walk through their livingroom.

You’re giving them the gift of experiencing joy, or love, or happiness every single time they see that print on their wall. And that’s the same whether it’s a print from an extended family session you booked and went to with them that has you and all of your favorite people in it, or whether it’s a gorgeous floral print you chose just for them.

Every time they see it… they’ll think of you!

Helping people to decorate their spaces is way cooler than we think it is, for a ton of reasons. The first one is that whole “it’s actually an experience” thing I was talking about earlier, but there’s more! My favorite one, is the fact that when you help people decorate their homes and spaces, you’re creating a magical opportunity for that person to think about you, whether or not you’re actually IN the art you gift them!

I don’t know about you, but the things in my home that have been gifted to me by people who KNOW me, and who picked those things JUST for me, are kind of magical parts of my space. It sounds cliché, but hear me out here. When I look at those things, I think of them. I think about how much work they put into choosing that thing for me, and how much joy they wanted to bring into my life. I warned you it sounded cliché, but just because it’s cliché doesn’t mean it’s not true. Gifts of ANY kind are amazing like that, they’re like magical little windows into remembering a day. But fine art prints are even MORE magical, because they bring a whole lot of attitude to your space overall!
