Making Social Posts is Time Consuming

We all know we have to be on social media as business owners, this is 2025 for goodness sake. And all of the platforms just keep getting weirder and weirder, and there are more of them at every turn… what I mean to say, is it’s a changing landscape. And that’s okay! We like change, we like new things, and we like unique ways to get information about your small business out there. But that being said, it does make it even harder to sort out what you should be doing on each platform. We’re going to talk about that here soon, but for now… one thing you definitely need to be doing?

Posting!

You have to get posts up, and you have to do it in a consistent way.

Consistency is KEY to Social Growth

I know I talk about this all the time, but social growth is all about consistency. It’s not about vanity metrics, or likes, or shares – it’s about keeping yourself consistent, keeping your content branded, and making sure content is getting out there.

But getting content out there consistently isn’t about setting an hour aside every day, either. Even though it can TOTALLY feel like that’s what you need to be doing! What you need, is batching. You need a process so that you can create your posts, set them on a schedule, and then focus on ENGAGEMENT throughout the month itself!

Sometimes, Less is More!

When it comes to creating your social content, I’m not going to lie to you. Not all content is going to perform on all platforms, and not all content can be repurposed effectively across all of your channels. But when you’re aiming for CONSISTENCY, instead of PERFECTION, and you’re not quite in a place where you can outsource to the experts yet… then prepping your content based on TOPIC and repurposing as much as possible is the best way to make sure you’re actually getting things out there.

With this content batching method, you can set aside one afternoon, and make as much content as you need for the month’s posts, so you can save yourself time on the OTHER 30 days of the month!

Start with your TOPICS

Sitting down to batch your content with this method, starts with your topics.

Figure out how many posts you want to make in a month – if that’s one per day, then go with 30. If it’s every other day, go with 15. Now, sometimes coming up with the topics for your posts is the hardest part, but we’re not going to get into creating the topics right now.

I have a whole guide for creating content topics for blogging, and you can absolutely repurpose that for creating social media content topics! It’s a way to pull the info out of your head, instead of relying on tools like AI that outsource the parts of your brain you should be using. So if you need inspiration on actually coming up with the topics themselves, head over there and read that one!

But anyway, for this step, give each day a topic, overarchingly. Then, based on that topic, I want you to write a little paragraph. It doesn’t need to be long – just enough that you’ll be able to pop the sentences onto templates for some Instagram Carousels, and/or into the description of your posts on Facebook and elsewhere! As long as you’re picking topics you KNOW about, and things that you’re PASSIONATE about, writing those paragraphs should be SUPER quick.

Use Templates to Speed up Your Graphics

Once you have your topics and your little descriptive paragraphs, you’ll want to pair them with graphics! Try to pick about 50% of the posts to pair with static graphics like Instagram posts, or slides for carousels, and then the other 50% with reels. For the reels, you should be able to use the paragraph you wrote about the topic as the script, so you can knock those out super quickly!

For the graphics themselves, grab TEMPLATES. Whether they’re like the ones I have available, or they’re a set you’ve grabbed on Canva, or they’re from another seller or even your brand manager… templates SPEED UP your process for social content. And leaning on them is NOT cheating! Get those graphics paired up with your paragraphs, and export them to a folder so you know where they are.

Pre-Record Reels in a Batch

For the 50% that are made up of reels, like I said, you’ll want to use the paragraph you wrote as a script. Don’t aim for perfection – aim for being YOU! Record your reels in a batch, one after the other – unless you’re creating lengthy content (which has its pros and cons, I’ll admit) you should be able to get those recorded super quickly too. Again, remember we’re not going for picture perfect content here, we’re going for humanity. Consistency. Branded content.

But remember you’re HUMAN, and you’re allowed to stutter, or stumble over a sentence. If you need to, re-record things, that’s also fine! But you don’t HAVE to. You can keep it simple!

Get ‘em all scheduled!

Once you have your videos recorded, and your graphics made… it’s time to schedule! For Instagram and Facebook, I recommend using the Meta scheduler for your posts. It’s the least buggy scheduler around, and it’s the one that will get your content up on time. For your reels, go directly into Instagram and schedule them there! If you want to, you can also take your graphics and add them onto Pinterest, scheduled throughout the month and pointing to content on your website, or products that you sell. And then all of the sudden, you have three platforms of content already scheduled!
